About Us
History
The Deep River Chapter, NSDAR, was chartered in October 2020. The charter members were from all over the country. We meet in person and virtually, to enjoy programs, projects, and events that support the objectives of the NSDAR.
The name of our chapter comes from the Deep River that flows through Chatham County to meet the Cape Fear River. The rivers were essential to early settlers and Native Americans for transportation and food. Numerous animal species and birds rely on the river for their habitat. Our chapter supports conservation.

Our chapter sponsored a booth at the 250th Anniversary of the founding of Chatham County. We handed out cake pops and American Flags.
During the pandemic, we held a virtual “Tea at Home” event as a fundraiser.
Our Conservation Committee encouraged us to get outside. Members shared their tricks and tips! On Earth Day we planted a tree.
Meetings
Our chapter meets once a month from January through May and September through December. A typical meeting includes social time, a guest speaker, and a business meeting.
We encourage anyone interested in joining DAR to attend one of our meetings to better understand the DAR organization and especially our chapter. You will learn more about our chapter by going to the “What We Do” webpage (see menu at top of page) to read about some of the things that we do throughout the year.
Please contact us for the meeting dates and location.
