What We Do
We are dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.
Promoting Patriotism
- Participate in the Fourth of July celebrations in Pittsboro.
- Support “Sweats for Vets” program with a donation of sweatshirts that are distributed to local veterans centers.
- Support Wreaths Across America and donates trees to their farm.
- Observe Veterans Day and participate in activities.
- Promote education on the U.S. Flag and flag protocol.
- NSDAR and our chapter support the America250 Foundation, planning for the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
Historic Preservation
- Participate in local historic programs, tours, and events.
- Attend history talks given at the Chatham County History Museum.
- Sponsor a Zoom series by the Chatham County Library on the History of People of Color in Chatham County.
- Support the preservation of NSDAR historic buildings.
Education
- Support promotion of Constitution Week with educational materials.
- Sponsor a Native American summer camp program.
- Donate books to the “Communities in Schools” program for tutoring.
- Volunteer as tutors in local schools.
- Sponsor American History Essay Contests for fifth to eighth-grade students.
- Support Crossnore Communities for Children.

Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.
Our chapter supports education through tutoring and donations of books.
